If you have excellent exam results, good English skills, and an interest in advising on commercial law, we would love to get to know you! PhDs, LL.Ms, and other additional qualifications are welcome, but not mandatory.

For newly qualified and associate level roles we require the first state bar exam results, second state bar exam results and Abitur.

Various components ensure that even young employees can develop professionally with us. We respond with a high degree of flexibility to individual career and life goals.

• Mentoring . You will be assigned an experienced associate as your personal mentor. Your mentor will support you during your onboarding and further orientation within the company.
• Continuing education . We support your continuing education:
  • Frankfurt Academy. As part of our “Frankfurt Academy”, we invite external and internal speakers to discuss current cases, legal issues and developments, and to train you.
  • Coaching. Coaching seminars are held regularly to train your communication and presentation skills.
  • English. To further improve your English skills, we offer individual English courses.
  • Specialist lawyer training course. Depending on your area of ​​expertise, we support you in attending specialist lawyer training courses.
• Feedback . Associates receive regular feedback, both informally during the handling of mandates and annually as part of “annual reviews”.
• Networking . Our Frankfurt colleagues regularly participate in cultural events together and meet for after-work gatherings. We also offer opportunities to get to know lawyers from other offices, across different practice areas and locations. For example:
• Orientation seminar. Right at the start of your employment with us, we invite you, along with the new associates in other offices, to our annual orientation event in Washington, DC There you will meet all your other new colleagues and learn everything that is important for your start at Covington. The orientation program is complemented by a series of great evening events.
• EMEA Retreats . Later in your career with us, you will meet your colleagues from London, Brussels, Dubai and Johannesburg again at our popular EMEA Retreats at least every two years.
• Associate Advisory Committee . Covington takes the concerns of our associates very seriously and therefore has an Associate Advisory Committee. Each office appoints one associate to the committee, where associate concerns are discussed. The Associate Advisory Committee reports regularly and directly to our Management Committee.
• Study Abroad . Candidates who have passed the Second State Examination and completed a US LLM program may be able to work for a year in one of our US offices before starting with us in Frankfurt. Candidates who have passed the Second State Examination and obtained an English LLM

Our program offers all the components that are relevant for a sound education and early career planning:

• Elective placement abroad . If you have completed your legal traineeship with us, you may have the opportunity to complete your elective placement in one of our international offices.
